Overview

Emperor Voracious The Great is a character in the Garfield and Friends episode, The Great Inventor who is the episode's main antagonist.

Physical Appearance[]

An obese middle-aged man of swarthy complexion, who has started to go bald. He still maintains unkempt brown hair below temples and thick brows of the same color.

Voracious dresses himself in purple robes with red sash, supplemented by a golden laurel around his temples, golden armbands and sandals, and a golden brooch with a green gem. His notable trait is a large hawklike nose.

Personality[]

A cruel and ruthless monarch, who is ruling the Roman Empire imposing a regime of the iron hand. Voracious relies on his soldiers as law enforcers, for his legal system is indeed strict - he punishes disobedient architects by locking them in dungeon and incompetent chefs wind up as lion's meal. He would even have animals arrested as well like Jonah's own pets, Cicero and Odious Maximus.

Voracious's tyrannical tendencies seem closely related with his disability to enjoy a decent meal. The way he treats his servants in the episode until Jonah prepares lasagna for him testifies this phenomenon.

Trivia[]

  • Voracious is apparently a satire against the Roman emperors of the Dominate era, as well as the infamous emperor Caligula, who is known for having exhibited awkward conduct throughout his reign period.
  • His name reflects his appetite, which is seen when he consumes the lasagna presented by Jonah and his pets.
