Hare Force is an episode from the sixth season of Garfield and Friends.
Booker and Sheldon re-imagine "The Tortoise and the Hare" as a science fiction epic.
Orson plans to read the story of The Tortoise and the Hare to Booker and Sheldon for their bedtime story, but the chicks are uninterested in it because they know what will happen. Unimpressed with the predictable outcome and lack of events, they decide to make a new modern version of the story.
First, they turn the tortoise into a space hero who battles dinosaurs on an alien world. Then, they turn the hare into an evil space lord bent on universal domination. They proceed to tell their story.
One day, as the tortoise battles a dinosaur, the hare sends a holographic message to mock him. The tortoise declares that they should have a race, and the hare declares the prize will be mastery of time and space, eternal control of the universe, and a cookie.
The race begins and the hare takes an incredible lead, leaving the tortoise light years behind. Soon, he decides to take a nap on a nearby planet, giving the tortoise a chance to catch up.
The chicks are so thrilled with how they're writing the revision, they wish they could see the climax themselves. Orson then suggests they use their imaginations to be there to see for themselves. With that, they're in the story.
As all seems well, the hare wakes up to find that he had overslept and reaches past the tortoise, taking the lead again. The others think this will be the exact opposite of the original tale. So, it's up to them to win the race before the hare does. They activate the maximum speed and cross the finish line and win. Thus, Sheldon controls the universe, Booker is the master of space and time, and Orson gets the cookie, which is his favorite, chocolate chip.
- The episode tells- and parodies- the Aesop fable "The Tortoise and the Hare".
- The tortoise is initially proposed as a ninja warrior, alluding to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
