In the town of Hamelin, all were as happy as could be. They lived prosperously and had some of the best cuisine around. However, the town became infested with mice who were enticed by the food. The king James II had decided that rather than solve the mouse problem, he'd find someone to blame for it. And for that, his royal advisers decided that he blame Jon. He believed that this would be a good deed to do for the town, but he didn't know what to do. He asked the villagers for help, but they ran off in a panic.
With no way to stop the mice, he tried everything he could that any exterminator would, but nothing worked. Soon, a cat named the Pied Piper, named for due to being hit with pies for playing his horn off-key, came into town and offered to help Jon in exchange for an Italian meal. The piper did just that all while getting hit with pastries and soon all the mice were gone. However, the king refused to pay the food that Jon promised the cat. When Jon told the cat about it, the cat decided to take matters into his own paws and refined his horn so that it would hypnotize all the Italian chefs in the village away. The people then dethroned the king while the piper got his feast.
Garfield finishes the story and is pied by an audience member.
