The Pie-Eyed Piper is an episode from the sixth season of Garfield and Friends.
Synopsis[]
Garfield tells his version of the Pied Piper of Hamelin.
Plot[]
Garfield arrives on stage and steps up to the podium with no applause or fanfare occurring. He announces that he will be reading the tale of the Pied Piper.
In the town of Hamelin, all were as happy as could be. They lived prosperously and had some of the best cuisine around. The town became infested with mice who were enticed by the food. The king, James II (who is too scared to accept responsibility), had figured that rather than solving the mouse problem himself, he would find someone to blame for it, with Jon receiving the dubious honor. He believed that this would be a good deed to do for the town, although he did not know what to do. When he asked the villagers for help, they ran off in a panic.
With no way to stop the mice, he tried in vain with anything an exterminator would do. Soon, a cat named the Pied Piper, named for due to being hit with pies for playing his horn off-key, came into town and offered to help Jon in exchange for an Italian meal. The piper lures away the mice, all while getting hit with pastries. and soon all the mice were gone. The king refused to pay the food that Jon promised the cat. When Jon told the cat about it, the cat took matters into his own paws and refined his horn so that it would hypnotize all the Italian chefs in the village away. The people then dethroned the king (marking the first time James II has taken blame for anything) while the piper got his feast.
Garfield finishes the story and is pied by an audience member.
